Victorian Cottage extension

Having started her own private Architectural practice, Marilize was commissioned to do some Internal alterations, and a Side extension of an end of terrace Victorian cottage in Thornham on the North Norfolk coast.
This small two storey Victorian end of terrace cottage is situated in the conservation area in Thornham Norfolk. The cottage was the typical two up two down with an entrance and bathroom extension to the front of the house. The kitchen was quite small and in need of modernization and the clients wanted a family bathroom on the first floor level
We remodelled the ground floor space by removing the bathroom from the front extension entrance area. We installed a much bigger window in the place of the old bathroom window and removed the internal wall between the entrance and the living area, flooding the ground floor front room with natural light. This was a key factor in the success of this project.
We also added a two storey side extension with a utility and a wet room on the ground floor and a luxurious family bathroom on the first floor. Here we also flooded the bathroom with natural light from 3 sides and from above.
This small cottage has been transformed by the imaginative small changes and is now a delightful cottage, loved by the clients, uplifting to the area and sits very comfortably in the lovely setting in Thornham.
